Founded in 1123 by Rahere, St Bartholomew the Great is London’s oldest surviving parish church, with more than 900 years of history within its walls. Originally part of an Augustinian priory, the church has survived the Dissolution of the Monasteries and the Great Fire of London.
This photograph captures the full span of the church, from the organ through to the altar, bringing its remarkable depth and medieval character together in a single view.
Its distinctive architecture has also made Great St Bartholomew the Great a much loved filming location, appearing in films including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Elizabeth: The Golden Age and Sherlock Holmes.
Created from multiple photographs and meticulously composed into a single image, the artwork reveals the church from a perspective beyond a conventional photograph.
20% of profits from the sale of this artwork will be donated to support the upkeep of St Bartholomew the Great.
